This one surprised me. This Hibiscus has been growing in my garden since before I moved in, and honestly, I never paid a whole lot of attention to it. But this year, as I was traveling between North Carolina and Michigan, I noticed that it was blooming in my daughter’s garden, too, and I loved being able to work on the sketch and the block wherever I was.
Every print begins as a drawing that I carve by hand into a linoleum block. I make each print by hand, one at a time, so no two are exactly alike. Small variations in texture and ink coverage are part of the handmade process. I print on Somerset, a 100% cotton, archival printmaking paper made in England, using Cranfield's Caligo Safe Wash inks.
The image measures 6" × 8” on 11” × 14” paper, with generous margins, so it fits a standard frame with or without a mat. This design is currently available in black. Each color is a separate edition of 25, signed and numbered.
