The inspiration for these pieces came from sitting in my favorite chair in the herb garden with my coffee on summer mornings.I use herbs every day for cooking, medicinal uses, and for inspiration and decoration, so spending a good deal of time drawing them, and getting to know them better for this project was a highlight of my summer and fall.
A rustic watercolor wash on beautifully textured handmade paper provides a perfect backdrop to highlight the delicate botanical line drawings. The backgrounds were inspired by the colors and textures of the herb garden as it changed throughout the seasons.
My hope is that this calendar is more like a beautiful piece of art for your walls. I created it with the intention that it would bring a sense of warmth and a connection to the natural world to your home.
