End of a season
While I am usually so sad to pull up the garden at the end of the season, this year felt better. I had the opportunity to participate in Reincarnate, a beautiful event held here in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where florists and floral artists reimagine the flowers and foliage that would normally be sent to the compost into installations. Knowing the event was coming, I felt a whole lot better about pulling up the last of the summer blooms and letting them dry in heaps all over my studio. And now, a week after the event, Iām still enjoying some of the bits and pieces that came home with me.
The first day of the event was reserved for elopements! Three couples used the space with the incredible floral backgrounds for their small wedding ceremonies during the day, and then the venue opened to the public for the next couple of days. This year looked a bit different, of course. Tickets were limited to a small number of mask-wearing guests for designated times. It was so nice to get out and see some beauty and some people, safely.
I created a floral frame. A view to 2021, perhaps?
