Part 1: Botanical drawing
Part 2: Botanical painting with watercolor — we will end with a mini-reception with snacks and conversation about everyone’s pieces
Wednesday, June 29
6:00 - 8:30p.m.
Thursday, June 30
6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
$165
Join me for two evenings in the greenhouse! We will spend the first day making a botanically accurate drawing, and the second evening we will use our drawing for our botanical illustration in watercolor. Some experience drawing is nice, but not required.
All of the art materials you need for the classes are included
Each class includes one plant valued at $7.00. If you would like a more expensive plant, or just more plants! - they will be available for purchase during class.
The classes will be limited to 12 participants, so there will be plenty of time to receive individual help.
You will leave the class with your painting and and a book with all of the steps we go over in class.
The first day we will choose a plant and focus on accurately drawing your plant.
The second day, we will transfer your drawing to watercolor paper and make a watercolor painting. We will end the second evening with a mini-reception (snacks and non-alcoholic beverages included!) and a conversation about everyone’s work. You are welcome to bring wine or a beverage of your choice.
We will cover the following:
How to map out a botanical drawing
Botanical drawing (focusing on accuracy)
Shadows and value
Mixing color
Washes and dry-brush techniques
How to make your painting look 3D
